The podcast

Listen to the fascinating podcast audio adaptation of the Animated Walk from the Friends’ Zeppelin 1917 season. It tells the story of the Zeppelin Raid on Camberwell, in the industrial and residential area that existed before the creation of the park itself, and puts the tragic events of that night into the context of local life at that time. Read about the Animated Walk.

Detail of the house sculpturesThe memorial launch

As part of the commemorations of the Zeppelin bombing in 1917 (see below for more information), Sally Hogarth unveiled her new artwork memorial ‘Silent Raid’.  The memorial to those who lost their lives was commissioned by Southwark Council and a year in the making.

The ten replica houses which make up the installation represent each of the people killed in the attack. Read Sally Hogarth’s blog on the Southwark Heritage website about creating the sculptures.

Held at Theatre Delicatessen, in the Old Library on Wells Way: a walk around the locations for the memorial, with speeches, refreshments, a poem by Koko and more.

The launch took place exactly 101 years after the attack, as part of the Zeppelin 1917 programme of events in Burgess Park about the First World War.
